Our History

MesoRNA was founded in 2023 to address a long-standing gap in molecular biology: the inability to comprehensively study small non-coding RNAs, mesoRNAs™, which make up over 85% of the nucleic acid molecules in human cells. These RNAs play critical roles in regulating gene expression and cellular function, yet remain poorly understood due to persistent technical and analytical challenges.

The company emerged from over a decade of pioneering research by Dr. Tao Pan, a leading expert in RNA biology, whose academic work highlighted the biological importance of these overlooked molecules. MesoRNA exists to carry that vision forward – developing tools and technologies that finally make the study of mesoRNAs possible, scalable, and precise.

We believe that understanding the full function and clinical relevance of mesoRNAs will illuminate the last dark space in the central dogma, unlocking newareas for discovery in human biology.
